Beyond

Starting a new series in November at my church. It's been a tough one to think through. We're calling it "beyond" and exploring how Jesus calls His followers "beyond" the place we are now/today. And that's uncomfortable. We like where we are. We don't want to move or change or get uncomfortable. Will be focusing mostly on how the place God wants to move us to is a place of service. Humility. Washing the feet of the world. For most of us - true service is way "beyond" where we are. We're willing to call ourselves Christians, and even do a little bit for God - but only as long as it is "comfortable" for us. This series will definitely be a challenge - for me personally, and for our church community as we explore what living like Jesus really means.

Now that I've stopped laughing at David's profound comment.......

*ahem* This series is going to be tough on me, I think. It's really easy to be shallow about this kind of thing, and I'm really guilty of getting complacent and thinking I'm doing what I can be doing as a follower of Christ. I always feel like there's more I could and probably should be doing, but I feel like I'm doing okay.... I compare myself, as I should, with the example of Jesus, though, and I fall really short. I'm as ready as I can be to be convicted and shaken.

Oh, and I like the new picture better than the old one. Big head or not. =)

I have attended your sevice just a few times with family. I can't tell you how you have reached me. I wish I could find a church in my hometown like the Quest Church. I was delighted to find out today that you are online. I can follow your services here.
